Tess Jaray RA
Tess Jaray’s paintings and prints show a concern with the formal and precise. The shapes are often inspired by architecture and contain potential three-dimensional interpretations and spatial ambiguities, rather than being formal arrangements of colour and interaction of forms. She has written that she aims to: “wake the surface, move it and fill it ... every part of the painting should be active.”
Tess Jaray has worked on several major public commissions, including the terrazzo floor at Victoria Station, London, the forecourt of the British Embassy in Moscow and the paved area of Centenary Square in Birmingham.
