About Nicola Hicks
Nicola Hicks uses materials such as straw, plaster, bronze and charcoal to create powerful sculptures and drawings of animals - bulls, pigs, greyhounds, hares and strange semi-mythical creatures. “The Hicks bestiary is a metaphor for the human condition and the evocative power of its inhabitants appears to derive from the blunt humanity in the artist's view of her world” (Robert Heller).
