    Anne Ryan (1889 - 1954) is an artist predominantly associated with an artistic circle that flourished in New York City's Greenwich Village during the 1920's. She belongs to the early generation of Abstract Expressionists and is best known for her collages inspired by the work of Kurt Schwitters. The New Island is a pastel drawing, which depicts her fresh palate and delicate composition found in both her abstract paintings and collage work.
