  • About Jean Spencer

Jean Spencer's abstract compositions belong to a tradition of Constructive and Systemic art which began at the time of the Russian Revolution. She was one of a number of artists interested in this way of working, who met to exhibit their work and debate the theories of systems and organisation in art. Her work is totally devoid of narrative and anecdote and is based on very meticulously worked out colour theories and geometrical forms, each following a logical system.
