Donated by the artist 2002Liliane Lijn is primarily concerned in her sculpture with light and movement. Black Koan was conceived as a means of raising money for the conservation of her kinetic sculpture White Koan, which is owned by the University of Warwick. White Koan is both a pun and the embodiment of the Persian mantric device, a subject which has fascinated Lijn for many years.
