Lilith and Eve at Twilight [1991]

Donated by the artist 1992.As indicated by the title, this work is concerned with the two contrasting sides of woman. The sleeping leopard embodies Lilith, who according to Jewish literature was the first wife of Adam. She was thought to have been transformed into a monster who stole new-born infants from their mothers. Although the leopard is sleeping it is clearly ready to pounce at any moment. The vulnerable figure of the naked Eve stands on the right.
