About Joanna Constantinidis

Joanna Constantinidis studied at Sheffield College of Art and then taught at Chelmsford School of Art. She was influenced by medieval pottery, Staffordshire slipware, salt glaze and early industrial pottery. Her work was characterised by great sensitivity and expression in form, together with a subtlety of surface colour and texture. "Austere, succinct and sensual" (her own words), she restricted herself to a limited number of forms. As with all her pots, this one was thrown on the wheel and then modelled.
